A Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP) deu início ao serviço Samba com a chegada do primeiro navio no último domingo (17). O serviço interliga portos da América do Sul e da Europa, e consiste em duas escalas semanais, sendo uma cumprindo a rota Sul e outra a rota Norte. O navio Maersk Lanco atracou na noite deste domingo (17) no berço do terminal, vindo do sul do continente americano tendo como destino portos europeus. Sua previsão de movimentação, na BTP, é o embarque de 1.400 unidades de contêineres.
Na segunda-feira (18), atracou também, por volta das 19h00, o navio Maersk Lins, que faz a rota contrária, isto é, vem da Europa com destino ao Sul da América do Sul. Foram desembarcadas deste navio cerca de 1.350 unidades de contêineres, e a previsão de volta do Lins, ao terminal da Empresa, é dia 31 de agosto para embarque de novas unidades.
“Com o início do Samba, completamos todos os serviços previstos para o Terminal para este ano”, afirma Alan Lear, Diretor Comercial e Marketing da BTP.
O recebimento dos navios deste serviço só foi possível após a homologação das novas profundidades do canal de navegação do Porto de Santos. A nova configuração do trecho 4 do canal, onde o terminal da BTP está localizado, apresenta desde o início de julho calado operacional de 12,6 metros, possibilitando o recebimento de navios maiores, com capacidade média de 7.000 mil TEUs.
De acordo com o diretor-presidente da BTP, Henry Robinson “a nova profundidade autorizada impacta positivamente e reestabelece maior isonomia competitiva entre os terminais instalados no Porto”. Os berços do terminal também já estão preparados para atracações de navios de maior porte, com calados operacionais homologados entre 12,8 e 12,9 metros, o que coloca a BTP em equiparação operacional aos demais terminais instalados no Porto.
Agora, a expectativa da Empresa é de que as obras de dragagem de manutenção, a cargo da Secretaria Especial de Portos (SEP), resultem em profundidades de 13,2 metros em curto prazo até alcançar patamares entre 15,4 e 15,7 metros em toda a extensão do canal do Porto, possibilitando o recebimento de navios com capacidade superior a 9.000 TEUs.

The service connects ports in South America and Europe, and consists of weekly two scales, one serving the southern route and another the north route. Maersk Lanco berthed Sunday night (17th, August) at the terminal quay, coming from the South American continent and having European ports as destination. About 1,400 units of containers will be loaded in the vessel.
This Monday night (18th, August), Maersk Lins is scheduled to arrive at BTP and it has an opposite sea route, that is, it comes from Europe to Southern South America destination. About 1,350 units of containers will be off-loaded from this vessel, and it will return to BTP on August, 31 for the shipment of new units.
“With the beginning of Samba, we complete all services scheduled for this year,” says Alan Lear, Commercial and Marketing Director of BTP.
The beginning of Samba service was only possible to happen because of the approval of new depths within the navigation channel of Santos’ Port. The stretch 4 of the channel, where BTP terminal is located, is now 12.6 meters deep, enabling the arrival of larger vessels with an average capacity of 7,000 TEUs.
According to the CEO of BTP, Henry Robinson “the new authorized depth of the channel starts to restore the competitive equity among terminals installed along the Port”. The berths of the terminal are also already prepared for the mooring of larger vessels, presenting 12.8 and 12.9 meters of operational draught, which ranks BTP at the same operational position of the other port terminals installed in Santos.
The expectation of the Company now is directed to the maintenance of dredging services up to reach the mark of 13,2 meters depth in a short-term until the achievement of an operational draught of 15,4 and 15,7 meters depth in the whole navigation channel of Santos’ Port. The Brazilian Ministry of Ports (SEP) is in charge of this process in Santos, and this conditions of deepness will allow the arrival of vessels with a capacity higher than 9.000 TEUs.
