BTP leaves legacy in Santos with the construction and handover of the Vila Gilda Health Clinic and Rádio Clube Community Center

Santos, January, 24, 2025 - Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP), the largest container terminal in South America, officially handed over to the municipality of Santos of the first health clinic in the Vila Gilda area and the new Rádio Clube Community Center on January 24. The inauguration ceremony took place during the same week that the city of Santos celebrated its 479th anniversary, underscoring BTP’s commitment—as a key player in container operations at the Port of Santos—to contributing to the region’s socioeconomic development.

Claudio Oliveira, BTP’s newly appointed CEO, emphasized the strengthening of the port-city relationship and the positive social impact these new facilities will have. “Knowing that these spaces will bring more healthcare, culture, and quality of life to so many people is a legacy we are proud to leave behind. Since the beggining of our history, we have worked to deliver port operations with excellence while also supporting the socioeconomic development of communities surrounding the terminal. It is with this commitment that we move forward into the next 20 years of operations at the Port of Santos—promoting national infrastructure development and generating value for our region,” he stated.

BTP’s investment in the Vila Gilda Health Clinic and the Rádio Clube Community Center is part of a Term of Responsibility for Implementation of Mitigating and/or Compensatory Measures (Trimmc), resulting from the company’s environmental licensing process. In total, BTP’s Trimmc will allocate R$36.7 million to the city of Santos, with two key deliverables: the first being the Vila Gilda Health Clinic and Rádio Clube Community Center, and the second involving the construction of part of the second phase of Valongo Park.
